The Adamic Covenant recorded in Genesis 3:14-21.

• Satan is now called the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4).
• God's purpose in the on-going spiritual war is to redeem HIS creation, to overcome Sin and reestablish HIS visible authority over HIS creation.
• Satan is judged — he will enjoy limited success, but Satan's ways lead only to destruction. YHWH still sets the ground rules, and the first prophecy HE gave is for HIS adversary: Ultimately, Satan will lose the spiritual war and be judged (Genesis 3:15).
• The first prophecy for humanity is the promise of a future redeeming Messiah (Genesis 3:15).
  • This passage contains the prophecy of the Virgin Birth -- "her seed". Nowhere else in scripture is a woman's seed mentioned. It is ALWAYS a man's seed. But Jesus is unlike any other man in that He did not have an earthly father. In addition, the enmity is between the serpent's seed and the woman's seed -- Jesus is unalterably set against Satan and Satan is unalterably set against our Lord and Savior.

    And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. ~ Genesis 3:15

• The introduction of death into the human race (Genesis 3:16)
• The serpent, the tool used by Satan to affect the fall of humanity, is cursed. In the beginning it was the most desirable animal, and apparently it was upright, walking on legs. Now, it is the most loathsome creature, and it will crawl on its belly as a reminder of the devastating effects of sin.
• Multiplication of conception becomes required because of the introduction of death (Genesis 3:16)
  • This is the first time Eve’s name is mentioned in the Bible
  • Eve's name means "life" because she is the mother of all humanity. (Genesis 3:20).
  • There will be pain at childbirth (Genesis 3:16).
• The man is the head (not the dictator) of the household. (Genesis 3:16) But this WAS NOT the case before Eve succumbed to the serpent's lies.
• The ground is cursed and will bring forth weeds as well as the fruits and foods.(Genesis 3:17-19).
• Physical change takes place in humans, and they will have to work every day of their lives. (Genesis 3:19).
• Humans will die and their bodies will return to the earth (Genesis 3:19).
