• The Edenic Covenant recorded in Genesis 2:15-17 describes the First Covenant YHWH made with HIS first human creation and outlines Adams responsibilities. Adam was:
  • To populate the Earth (Genesis 1:28).
  • To subdue the Earth (Genesis 1:28).
  • Given dominion over the animal creation (Genesis 1:28).
  • To care for the Earth and enjoy its fruit (Genesis 1:29; 2:15).
  • To refrain from eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, under the penalty of death (Genesis 2:16-17).
• After the war of the Angels, YHWH created a new being in HIS image, and called him Adam.(1 Corinthians 15:45).
• Adam was to establish the Government of YHWH on Earth. He was to establish God's Kingdom on Earth--yet another reason why Jesus is referred to as the "second Adam." By the power of this Covenant He was to govern the improvements on Earth for the new community that was about to inhabit the earth. The improvements were to be in harmony with YHWH’S creation.
• YHWH then created a companion for Adam who was called Woman, which means taken out of man, because she was created from Adam's flesh and by taking one of his ribs (Genesis 2).
• Deceived by the serpent, Woman ate of the forbidden fruit, and then gave it to Adam to eat. Women through the millenia have taken a lot of heat because of this world renowned story. What is not talked about much is that Adam was the head of the household and deliberate in his disobedience of YHWH'S teachings. If Adam had not eaten of the forbidden fruit, even if Woman had, the story of humankind would have been very different. But it's not. So, yet another moral of this story: IT'S THE MAN'S JOB TO KEEP THE SNAKES OUT OF HIS GARDEN! Women are the weaker vessels (1 Peter 3:7) and in need of their husbands' loving protection (Ephesians 5:25-29 ) and vigilance (1 Timothy 3:2). Hey, what did you expect? God gave men 5 times more upper body strength than women, 2 times more lower body strength, a sharper mind in general, and better vision! There's no such thing as a free lunch.
• Up until then Adam and Woman knew the presence of YHWH. YHWH walked on the Earth among HIS creation and everything was under HIS authority. Their sin caused separation between the creation and the CREATOR.
